In my opinion I have perfected not only the BEST HUMMUS EVER, but also the easiest!
I’m talking hummus done and ready to devour in less than 10 minutes.
- No soaking chickpeas overnight
- Don’t need to boil your chickpeas for hours
- No individually peeling off chickpea skins
Nope none of that, just whole canned chickpeas paired with wonderful tahini to get the creaminess and bold flavours of garlic, lemon and cumin.
Like I said It’s so damn good that you want to eat it with everything!
What is hummus
Hummus is a staple Middle Eastern savoury dish made from chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon, garlic and cumin.
It seriously tastes like nothing else on earth; It’s rich, robust and totally satisfying.
It’s now widely available all around the world and likely to be stocked at your local supermarket.
Scoop it up with pita, flat bread or corn chips. Spread it in wraps or burgers. Dollop it over meat or salads such as tabouli. Hummus is so versatile as it can be a dip a spread or a sauce.
There are so many ways to enjoy this amazing side!
What is tahini
Tahini which is the second main ingredient in hummus is a paste made from sesame seeds. There are three variations; hulled, unhulled and unhulled black.
Tahini has the consistency of smooth peanut butter but has a strong, earthy taste and can taste slightly bitter.
Apart from hummus, it is commonly used in salad dressings, baba ghanoush, savoury dishes as well as desserts.
The process of making hulled tahini involves soaking the sesame seeds in water and then crushing them to separate the bran from the kernels.
Once crushed they are then soaked again which causes the bran to sink and the kernels to float to the top.
The kernels are toasted and then ground to produce tahini.
Both varieties are available to purchase on Amazon by clicking here.

How long does hummus keep
Leftover hummus can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to a week.
I store mine in a glass pyrex bowl with a lid.
