Just when you thought the words chocolate and healthy could not be paired, this delicious Chocolate berry smoothie is a nutritious breakfast when your on the go. Ready to devour in just 5 minutes and the kids love it even more than I do!
The taste and texture of this smoothie is on point! The combination of chocolate and berries is so yummy and the smoothie is not too thick but really satisfying.

Chocolate Berry Smoothie
This 5 minute smoothie is a healthy speedy breakfast and It’s also really refreshing for a mid morning or afternoon pick me up.
Looks can be deceiving because smoothies are actually filling when made with the right mix of ingredients. You can also add protein powder to the mix if you are exercising.
This power smoothie is flavoured with berries, a dash of cacao powder and banana. For extra goodness and texture it has chia seeds and raw almonds. A really delicious mix of ingredients that you probably have at home right now.
Is frozen or fresh fruit best for smoothies
When making smoothies, frozen fruit will give you the best results.

This is because frozen fruit blends up thicker than fresh fruit and gives you a really cold smoothie as the frozen fruit also acts as ice cubes. If you don’t have frozen fruit use fresh fruit and add some extra ice to the blender. You can also freeze your fruit the night before in these really awesome reusable silicone freezer bags.
Which milk is best for smoothies
It really comes down to personal preference. I use full cream milk because thats what my kids love. If your looking for weight loss then you could try almond milk or coconut water It’s also really delicious.

How to make a chocolate berry Smoothie
Making. smoothie is super easy because your blender does all the work! If your on the run a mix and go blender saves time as it has the built in bottle so you literally blend and go.
Simply add all your ingredients to the blender and blend until you have a smooth and creamy consistency. Adding ice gives the smoothie that cold, refreshing taste as well as adds more volume.
When adding the ingredients to your blender my top tip is to add the liquids first, followed by the softer ingredients (i.e. fruit) and add the harder ingredients (nuts, seeds, ice etc) last.

Chocolate Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp cacao powder
- 1 banana
- ¼ cup mixed berries
- 4 almonds
- 6 ice cubes
